Participants play a previously composed piece of music . They are divided into different groups, each group one instrument (5), they rehearse separately and than come together to execute the music piece together. Each group is led by a person of the company who previously received instructions.


Composition of a new music piece

They are divided into groups of 10 to 20 people, each group has all instruments and has to compose a new piece of music. Each group presents its work of music with a story to sell. One composition is selected based on the criteria of innovation degree, level of scalability and consistency between the sales story and the music composition.


Implementation of the new composition in the whole group

Implementation of the new composition in the whole group

The group that composed the selected music piece must implement and make the whole group play its composition in a very short time. Finally the whole group executes the new composition.

A group of 380 people of different functional and geographic areas of HP lived the experience of the Sinfonia. Led by "directors" of their own team, they achieved to play a piece of music in 90 minutes. Extracting important learning on managing change, cross functional communication, shared vision and how to overcome challenge that seem impossible.

Hewlett & Packard workshop video

1. Reduced version

version from one hour to two hours: only run the first part (playing a piece of music) with a reflection on how it has been done. The results are lessons learned on how to create and implement a change / new way of working in a company/(big)group of people. At the same it implies learnings about team work and building.


2. Complete Version

from 2 hours to a whole morning (4 or 5 hours): The execution of the three parts, including the reflection and learning sessions. The results are lessons learned on how to bring about change in an organization/company and on the steps of an co-creation and innovation process and how to implement a change or innovation.


3. Large version

with a duration of a whole day. Extending the complete version with an afternoon session on specific learnings for your company organisation, generating a list of possible improvements and focus points for your company innovation process. Different variants are possible for these versions depending on your needs and requirements.

The Sinfonomia can be executed with groups of minimum 15 people to groups up to 400 people (and more if needed). So far the largest group that experienced the Sinfonomia was of 380 people.

A group of 280 people of different functional and geografic aeas of NTR global experiened the full process of the Sinfonomia. In a time span of 4 hours they played, composed and implemented a new piece of music in the whole group. Supervised by experts of CROSSMO, but led by their own chosen "directors", they learned how to achieve the impossible, handling fluent communication, cler task definition, empowerment of team members during the creation process and decision taking in cross functional groups. They still speak and remember this unique experience!
